Immediate effect of shock wave versus muscle energy technique in cases of quadratus lumborum myofascial pain

Objective. To compare the effects of applying Extra-Corporal Shockwave treatment (ESWT) and Muscle Energy Technique (MET) to Quadratus lumborum (QL) with regards pain function. Methods. 77 participants were included in this study. Patients if they diagnosed as Myofascial syndrome, localized on QL muscle; surrounding tightness; tenderness; painful trigger points, causing referred around QL. Outcome measures. Pain was measured by Visual analogue scale (VAS), pressure threshold (PPT) algometer functional disability Oswestry index (ODI). Intervention. randomly divided into two groups. For first group, ESWT delivered Dornier AR2; smart focus technology tender point muscle. Three sessions 2 days rest following each session. The second group received MET for 3 well.
